Many of the issues mentioned - unusual score choice, cold/stoic performances/characters, no middle climax structure, a bit slow moving, are all which I too noticed during my viewing but found them only minimally distracting to the point where I felt Little Joe ultimately interesting and worth watching. The two issues that I found majorly distracting and bothersome was the overuse of the high-pitched sound element and the lead characters passiveness in the face of everything going on around her. Was she just really that naive, or was it a flaw in her character? Together with his band, Y la Familia Borrachera, Little Joe has enabled his music to reach far beyond the Texas and Mexico borders. In 1992, their album Diez y Seis de Septiembre received a Grammy Award as Best Mexican American Performance. The seventh of 13 children, Little Joe began playing music in 1953 with his cousin David Coronado 's band, David Coronado & the Latinaires. Two years later, he performed his first paid gig with the band at a high-school sock hop in Cameron, Texas. In 1958, Little Joe made his recording debut with the song "Safari, " released by Torrero Records in Corpus Christi, Texas. The following year, Little Joe 's brother Jesse joined the band on bass and vocals. When Coronado left shortly afterwards, Little Joe assumed leadership of the group. Throughout the early '60s, Little Joe led the band through a series of recordings on small independent labels. He underwent a personal transformation after Jesse died in an automobile accident in 1964. Determined to achieve commercial success, he altered his musical approach to include more rock and blues influences. In 1968, Little Joe formed two labels of his own: Buena Suerte for recordings in Spanish, and Good Luck for recordings in English. He later added a third label, Leona Records. How much did our mothers and grandmothers suffer from the patriarchy? How much did they have to hide, supress and ignore to protect us from past abuses?
Karim Ainouz tells, in his emotional tropical melodrama, stories from a time when a woman was expected to be subordinate in every single aspect of her life. Guida and Eurídice, apart from each other, lived outrageous trajectories, and, unfortunately, with expressive scars that lasted until today. The lies of extremally conservative parents, the superb and envy of Eurídice's husband, the suffering in maternity, the crucial solidarity between desperate women - all of it built a strong indignation and, at last, everybody cries in the end: a real tragic one. Fernanda Montenegro is an acting gem.
With technical maestry, Karim's team guides the movie in a raw way. The cinematography of Hélène Louvart is outstanding capturing old, green and dirty Rio de Janeiro. Karim's directing choices are really touching and carry a whole bunch of social issues with flow. The cello and piano from Benedikt Schiefer are as unsettling as the character's obstacles.
I hope that when women (especially older ones) watch this movie, they identify themselves and keep fighting against the male authoritarianism, fighting for freedom.
I hope that when men watch this movie, they identify in themselves traces of sexism to keep changing, to keep evolving and encouraging other ones to be better.
It's definitely an incredible and important movie that answers the questions above with some of the multiple possibilites, multiple realities that exist. It's a must see.

Based on a novel INVISIBLE LIFE offers a very typical plot for Brazilian cinema. Sisters separated by fate is a tagline straight from GLOBO tv channel soap operas that are so popular in Brazil. With a running time of 2h20min the pace is rather slow and the story takes its time to get going. Where the film succeeds is the atmosphere of the 40s Rio, with its walkways, restaurants, and its diminishing Portuguese middle class that can easily slip into extreme hardship and poverty.
Independent director Karim Ainouz is a Cannes darling but has never quite made it into the big league. This feels like a passion project for him and his love for Rio is obvious in every shot. Definitely not for everyone THE INVISIBLE LIFE is rich in emotion and atmosphere. Watch out for a small role from Brazilian acting royalty Fernando Montenegro. Her emotional gut wrenching cameo could be just the reason to see this overlong family saga.

O cinema brasileiro é muito pouco respeitado lá fora, principalmente porque a grande maioria esmagadora dos filmes brasileiros são sempre a mesma coisa. Ex: filmes de comédia com uma renda estrema mente baixa, com uma história bem mal contada com atores que não parecem estar levando a sério o que fazem. É basicamente uma novela reduzida a um filme. Characters are not that much sympathetic and the rythm is slow, everything is on surface and we couldn't delve to the characters and storylines, mostly I think because of lack of brilliant writing and dialogues.

Really good movie with really bad translation

Wasnt a trailer I literally just watched the movie. I'm from Vietnam and this film is so known to everyone, we've been pairing Nezha and Aobing, making fan fictions 'bout them and stuff. I know it's a lil bit rude to make comparisons between Nezha and the second highest grossing animated feature like Monkey king hero is back in 2015 or any other latest CGI animated feature in China, but tbh Nezha is at a way higher level, it's far superior to the others not just in 3D animation, visual effects but the whole plot and characters building aswell. I just hope that one day CGI industry in Vietnam would be facilitated to reach this level, sounds a bit impractical, people have right to dream tho (●´ω｀●.

The bad is actually everything else. story doesn't make sense and what we can get from this story. it's no meaning here. lot of people say its about bad can be good. but it doesn't expressed in the story properly because nezha wasn't bad from the beginning just only the born part and also bad become good doesn't show any specific beneficial in the end. only the society is bad itself and it's making nezha angry. relationship between nezha and dragon feels weird its like a gay story. nezha says lot of bad words and this movie is not suitable for kids. nezha putting his hand into that teacher's pant to take stuff is weird in lot of ways. what he did or learn for two years is nothing. they put lot of funny parts in wrong places like when nezha's mom motherly love towards nezha. its very wrong to make fun of human feelings like this.
my recommendation is if you want to watch effects go for it. others nothing. normally i believe good story and what it gives to the society is what matters most and we use good graphics and effects to make it express well. not making bad story to look good by good graphics. so in the it it becomes waste of money and time. i am so disappointed.
